THE PERFORMANCE CHAIN
ACTIVITYENGAGEMENTSKILL EXECUTIONBEHAVIORFUNNELPIPELINE QUALITYREVENUERETENTION + GROWTH

Do not manage from the last number in the chain. Work backward until you find the first meaningful leak.

THE POINTOutcomes tell you what happened.
Diagnostics tell you why.

Quota, revenue, win rate, NRR and forecast accuracy matter. They are not a diagnosis. Good revenue leadership connects outcomes to leading indicators, observable behaviors, context and a specific action someone can take.

START WITH YOUR JOB

What are you trying to become great at?

You do not need the entire revenue universe at once. Start with the role you own today, then explore the adjacent systems that affect your performance.

MEASUREMENT 101

Never manage a role from one number.

A useful scorecard mixes effort, execution quality, conversion, outcomes, coaching and data quality. That protects teams from vanity metrics and from coaching the wrong problem.

1–2Activity / input

Did the work happen?

2–4Quality / behavior

Was the work good?

2–4Conversion / velocity

Did the buyer move?

1–3Business outcomes

Did it create value?

1Manager / coaching

Is reinforcement happening?

1Data quality

Can you trust the signal?

KPI LIBRARY

Know the metric. Know what it can — and cannot — tell you.

Search the role-based KPI library. Treat directional benchmarks as starting points, then calibrate by segment, tenure, territory, region, product, motion and data quality.

PERFORMANCE DIAGNOSTIC

Tell me what looks weird.

Search a symptom. The system returns a likely diagnosis and the next investigation or coaching move. This is a starting hypothesis — not an excuse to skip context.

Before you blame a person:Check data quality → territory → ICP → product → pricing → process → manager effect → then skill.

AI PERFORMANCE SIGNAL LAB

Is this signal strong enough to act on?

Score the evidence before automating an intervention. High-confidence signals should be explainable, hard to game, grounded in fresh data and connected to a human owner.

PROGRAM → SIGNAL → OUTCOME

26 ways to turn enablement into an operating system.

Each program model links an audience and business outcome to observable signals. Historical lift and ARR modeling is intentionally excluded here until it is independently validated.

OPERATING RHYTHM

Metrics become management when someone owns the response.

A KPI without an owner, review cadence, threshold and response play is reporting. These example cadences show how the measurement loop becomes normal work.

THE RULES

Do not let a dashboard make you stupid.

Metrics should sharpen judgment, not replace it. These are the operating guardrails behind the entire system.

01

Never coach activity before checking quality and conversion.

02

Never blame a rep before checking data, territory, ICP, product, pricing, process and manager effects.

03

Never declare training success from completion alone.

04

Never declare AI success from usage alone.

05

Never declare content success from downloads alone.

06

Never declare pipeline success from total dollars alone.

07

Never declare a manager successful from team quota alone.

08

Never declare customer health from sentiment alone.

09

Never declare partner enablement successful from certification alone.

10

Never present modeled revenue influence as realized revenue.

11

Always segment before acting and preserve source provenance.

12

Every alert needs an owner, action, SLA and measurement window.

LEARN IT. USE IT. MEASURE IT.

Information should make the work easier.

This hub is free because knowing the method should not be the expensive part. The hard part is implementation: connecting the data, workflow, context, systems and people so the organization can actually use it.
