What makes an effective AI prompt for business?

An effective prompt defines six things: outcome, context, constraints, evidence, evaluation, and iteration. The aim is usable work, not impressive-sounding text.

How to put this into practice

Define the deliverable and audience. Supply relevant background and trustworthy examples, set format and length limits, specify how the result will be evaluated, and plan to review and improve the first draft.

Example

For prospecting email, identify the buyer, problem, offer, evidence, word limit, and next action instead of merely asking AI to write a cold email.
