Why is confident AI writing not necessarily accurate?
Confidence is a style of presentation, not a measure of factual reliability. Fluent AI-generated statements can still contain incorrect facts or invented sources.
How to put this into practice
Watch for missing citations, assumptions treated as fact, outdated details, and statements that cannot be independently checked. Trace consequential claims to the original report or record, checking the date and context.
Example
A specific statistic attributed to an analyst firm is not ready to publish without a traceable report and an accurate reading of what it says.
