When should a human stay in control of an AI workflow?

Keep humans responsible for high-consequence decisions, sensitive conversations, complex judgment, accountability, and relationship-building. AI can prepare information without owning the outcome.

How to put this into practice

Ask who must explain and remedy a mistake. Use AI for research, summarization, or drafting where appropriate, but place authorization and consequential communications with accountable people.

Example

For a serious customer complaint, AI may summarize the account history while a responsible team member writes the apology and speaks with the customer.
